Monument
Aylward's work in 'Monument' journeys through notions of strata, symbolically expressed through the material pairing of brass and timber. With his learning in cubist ideologies, an expressive form is generated as brass is utilised to support the redgum slab from beneath. Similar to its origin thus reinforcing its monument to nature.
